Abstract: The Z-source inverter is a novel power converter topology with potentially attractive properties. Shoot-through states are allowed in the Z-source inverter which improves its reliability. First, this paper states the present research situation of the new topologies of impedance source networks. Then modulation and control strategies are summarized from the view of their features. Challenges and some possible development trends of the Z-source inverter are discussed at the last.
