Review of the Multio-bjective Optimization of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

  • The recent researches are summarized on the multiobjective optimization of permanent-magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). To this end, the optimization objectives including the selection of appropriate objectives crucial for different application scenarios and operating conditions are discussed. Given the rapid adoption of PMSMs in the electric-vehicle industry, optimization is no longer restricted to traditional parameters such as power density and torque ripple. Further, multiobjective optimization strategies for PMSMs are reviewed. These strategies can be divided into direct and surrogate model-based strategies. The direct model-based strategy uses physical models for directly optimizing different design variable combinations using different optimization algorithms and deriving globally optimal solutions. The surrogate model-based strategy samples the design space using various methods for constructing a high-precision data model, which his used to obtain globally optimal solutions.
