Abstract
Through scale conversion and analysis of the city wall and gate data in Ji’nan City on its planning characteristics, this paper uncovers the city wall and gate are governed by a system of two grid modules. Taking an analysis of Ji’nan City’s overall urban planning process into account, this paper posits that the spatial layout of Ji’nan City symbolizes a harmonious balance between the romanticism influenced by Chu philosophy and the pragmatic norms rooted in traditional rites of Zhou, representing a refreshed advancement in capital construction during the Warring States period. This paper not only furnishes a theoretical foundation for examining the planning techniques of Ji’nan City, but also enhances the understanding of the historical context of regional capital construction in the Warring States period.
