  • This paper reviews and analyzes the widespread belief in Dragon Kings and the tradition of praying for rainfall in the north of North China. It focuses on the spacial layout of the Temple of Dragon Kings in Nuanquan Town of Yuxian County, examining how the rituals of praying for rainfall were performed in the temple and how the temple fair influences local cultural identification. The paper also investigates the interaction between folk customs and education embodied in the spacial evolution of the Temple of Dragon Kings, the Nuanquan spring (or Fengyuan Pool), and Wangmin Academy.
