  • Through comparison of the drawings recorded in juan 32 and 33 of the Forbidden-City edition of Yingzao fashi with the corresponding shape rules and labor quota recorded elsewhere in the text, this paper explores the graphical presentation techniques of flat, coffered ceilings (pingqi) and polychrome painting patterns for architectural members (caihua).
