The Society for Research in Chinese Architecture in Southwest China (1937—1940): Changsha and Kunming

  • This article examines the migration route, field investigation, academic output, and individual activities of members of the Society for Research in Chinese Architecturein southwestern China. Drawing upon existing research, it seeks to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the modern academic survival background of the Society and the historical process of how its members refined their academic spirit in southwestern China. The article is divided into two parts, with the current one focusing on the Changsha and Kunming phase (from the summer of 1937 to the end of 1940) of the Society’s journey. Through an analysis of the available evidence, it aims to shed light on the events that transpired during this period.
