Abstract:
This paper presents a comprehensive architectural historical analysis of three brick pagodas in Foguangsi Temple’s rear mountain area: the Pagoda of Monk Dade Fangbian, an unnamed stupa-style pagoda attributed to Monk Zhiyuan, and the Wugou Jingguang Pagoda. Through meticulous archival research and systematic field investigation, the paper advances new hypotheses regarding their original construction date and patronage. It further examines the pagodas’ extant architectural morphology, construction techniques, and proportional systems through field surveys, enabling evidence-based reconstruction of their original building methodologies.
