Abstract:
The concepts of the Mandate of Heaven, the perception of the universe, and the viewpoint of time and space are intricately linked to the foundation of ancient Chinese culture. All three originate from the meticulous observation of time and exhibit a mutual interconnectedness, both as surface manifestations and inner essences. The overarching cultural perspective of the suburban ritual system, shaped by these profound concepts, is deeply ingrained in the most fundamental knowledge and ideological framework of ancient culture. It encapsulates the profound logic underlying the structure of civilization, which is succinctly showcased through the reform implemented during the Jiajing period of Ming dynasty, which serves as a pivotal case study in the exploration of ancient Chinese architectural environmental thought.
