Abstract:
This paper delves into the comparative examination of plans, spaces, and appearance, elucidating the evolutionary trajectory linking the Monastery of Chartreuse d’Ema, the Legendre Restaurant, artist studios, Maison de Bouteilles de Vin, Maison Citrohan, and the Pavillon de l’Esprit Nouveau. It reveals a discernible secularization in the formal evolution from the monastic cell to the Pavillon de l’Esprit Nouveau, encompassing the Legendre Restaurant, artist studios, Maison de Bouteilles de Vin, and Maison Citrohan. Architecturally, Le Corbusier, in his design of the Pavillon de l’Esprit Nouveau, crafted a secularized interpretation of the priest’s cell of Chartreuse d’Ema, grounded in the context of the contemporary urban family life.
