Abstract:
Grounded in literature and field research, this paper delves into the historical backdrop and process of Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng’s 1934 expedition to explore the historic architecture of Shanxi Province. It pinpoints the locations of the architectural sites, offers an up-to-date account of the condition of their remnants, and engages in an analysis of the composition and academic significance of their investigative report titled “A Brief Report of a Preliminary Investigation on the Ancient Architecture of the Upper Fen River Valley.”
