Abstract:
This paper meticulously examines the noteworthy contributions of Daniel Sheets Dye, an American scholar and professor at West China Union University, who played a pivotal role in promoting higher education and scholarship in West China. Through a systematic compilation of historical materials, this paper provides a comprehensive review of Dye’s academic endeavors, emphasizing his meticulous examination, documentation, research, and creative works pertaining to traditional Chinese architecture, lattice structures, and related arts, revealing Dye’s legacy as an enduring contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage to enrich the history of Chinese architecture.
