Abstract: This paper closely examines the overarching theme of ‘state restoration’ within the painting titled Duke Wen of Jin Restoring His State. It analyzes the architectural imagery portrayed in four distinct scenes, considering three key dimensions: the depiction of antiquity（epochal character）, the restoration of the northern homeland（regionality）, and the representation of social common system（hierarchies）. This painting not only reveals the past but also holds relevance for its contemporary period. It serves as a reflection of the historical backdrop, technical craftsmanship, and social ideologies prevalent during the early Southern Song. Moreover, it presents a valuable case study for exploring the architectural expressions found in historical paintings.
