Abstract: This paper examines the types and distribution of log dwellings in Northwestern Yunnan by analyzing the structure system. Four major categories and 18 types of log dwelling are identified based on the forms of the ground layer, dwelling layer and roof layer. Furthermore, these types are divided into three series: the primitive series, the mountain series and the basin series, as observed by their distribution.
