Municipal Services Buildings in Hong Kong - an Evolution from the 1980s to the 21^st Century

摘要: 丝分缕析香港城市发展中与市政大厦建设相关的社会制度与重要事件，阐释其背后的驱动力、施政理念、城市特质等因素。基于市政大厦的建设情况和既有研究，追溯香港市政大厦 20 世纪 80 年代至 21 世纪的发展历程，总结其显著特征并对关键问题进行探究。由于制度管理、规划策略、建筑设计等模式的不同，市政大厦可根据时代演替划分为两个阶段。从两阶段中各自抽取的四个典型案例是发展脉络的重要节点，对其深入剖析可进而由点及面地展示香港市政大厦的发展全貌。

Abstract: This article traces the evolution of municipal buildings in Hong Kong from the early 1980s to the 21^stcentury, and analyzes planning intentions, policies, and features. The authors divide the evolution of this building type into two stages: the first stage encompasses last two decades of the 20th century; the second stage started in the 21^st century. Four examples are chosen from each stage to reflect the characteristics of architecture and historical setting.
