Abstract: This paper recalls how, forty years ago, the work of Liang Sicheng and Long Qingzhong triggered my interest in architectural history and helped me overcome the difficulties involved in realizing my plan (of studying). Liang and Long were my role models; they inspired me to dedicate my life to the research and conservation of China’s historical buildings. The aim of this paper is to cherish the memory of Liang and Long.
