Abstract
In order to make battery energy storage participate in grid primary frequency regulation process efficiently and safely, a coordinated control strategy is proposed for each energy storage unit of energy storage plant to participate in primary frequency regulation dynamically considering the internal composition of energy storage plant. Firstly, when the system frequency jumps out of the primary frequency dead zone, the main and auxiliary power units participating in primary primary frequency are determined based on the participation factor to improve the state of charge(SOC) maintenance effect, while the three control methods of virtual positive/negative inertia and virtual sag are coordinated to improve the primary frequency effect based on the characteristics of Logistic function. Secondly, when the system frequency enters the primary frequency dead zone, the load state is pre-recovered based on the ultra-short-term load prediction for the energy storage unit to improve the utilization of the primary frequency capacity of the energy storage plant. Finally, the simulation is verified under two system conditions, and the results show the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
