Overview of Weak Links and Optimization of Roof Composite Insulator in High-speed Sand Environment

Abstract
With the continuous improvement of high-speed railway operation speed, the operational requirements of high-pressure system on the train roof are gradually increasing. Under the strong wind and dust environment, the roof composite insulator is greatly tested, and its insulation performance is reduced to varying degrees. Flashover accidents frequently occur, which seriously affects the safe and stable operation of the high-speed rail. The weak links and research problems of the roof insulator under working conditions are introduced, and the optimization scheme of the roof insulator is studied, including material formulation optimization, structure optimization and online detection device development. Finally, the problems that need to be solved in the composite insulator of the roof and the direction of future research and development are pointed out. It is hoped that the operation reliability of electrical multiple unit (EMU) high voltage system can be improved by starting with insulator material formula, high voltage insulation system structure and insulator condition monitoring system.
